1. Psychology & Wellbeing Foundations (DNHC501)
A jam packed subject where you'll learn about human nature, personality and habit formation. It's here you'll begin to expand on your communication style so you can connect confidently and effectively with clients in coaching sessions and you'll go on to learn about the process of behaviour change. You'll learn how to conduct a full coaching session that empowers clients to own and drive their wellbeing. Finally you'll begin your dive into wellbeing management, looking at holistic health practices for nourishment, stress, life balance and in the process you'll begin an exploration of mindfulness. Equivalent to a university-level human nutrition subject you'll start out exploring the foundations of a healthful diet and move onto understanding the role, source and requirements of the macronutrients and micronutrients. In the second part of your studies you'll dive into the world of fluid balance, energy balance, sports nutrition and nutrition for weight management. Next you'll look at life cycle nutrition including pregnancy & lactation, early childhood, and nutrition for older adults. This unit of study also covers how to review diets, and the role of nutrition psychology. Australian students are able to use this subject for credits towards several degrees in health science (nutrition and naturopathy). Essential to any coach training is an understanding of mental health and how we can connect confidently and meaningfully with those experiencing crises. In this module of the subject you'll learn to recognise the signs and how to respond appropriately. Covering anxiety, depression, panic, suicide, substance abuse, gambling and now includes digital wellness. You'll also study the area of healthy movement and how we can support our clients to enjoy movement for health over body control. Simple tools are provided so you can share with clients seeking to create more movement in their lives. And, finally you'll explore an introduction to trauma awareness. All Well College coaching students and graduates have exclusive access to the groundbreaking Gabor Mate film 'The Wisdom of Trauma' , along with the resources, you'll gain insights into how we can begin to overcome trauma. In this unit you will begin to explore the exciting world of coaching in practice. You'll explore the essential processes of setting up a coaching session for success, and how to work with clients in an evocative partnership that creates a safe and empowering process for them to reach their wellness goals. In this subject you'll explore amazing tools that you can share with clients to support their self-discovery and healing. During this subject you'll have extensive opportunities to be coached by various level coaches if you wish, and you'll attend live classes (online) with just three other students so you can ask all the questions that have arisen, plus you'll begin coaching others with your new found knowledge and confidence. Establishing yourself as a coach, finding your niche and professional network. In this practicum you'll accrue your coaching hours, explore holistic modalities, learn how to refer clients to other professionals and work alongside them, and how to connect with local, regional and global agencies who may provide support for your clients where needed.
