Leanne begun the business in 1998 from just one healthy eating course she taught at nights for six weeks, four terms a year. Since then we've grown into one of the largest, and most trusted providers of industry approved courses. If you watch providers long enough it's clear that some simply emulate others; Well College Global has always lead the way with new learning strategies, novel course options and quality of service. We pride ourselves on differentiation and on continuous improvement; we believe this will ensure our student's learning experience will be the best it can be. Leanne's early dream was to become a child psychologist. However, after completing a bachelors degree majoring in both psychology and education she opted to travel for three years, basing herself out of London. "It was my own health that brought me to nutrition, and I haven't looked back". Leanne settled in Sydney and retrained in nutrition, in the early days she worked two jobs after graduating; a nutrition practice three days a week, and lecturing in nutrition and psychology at a hospitality college. And, if that wasn't enough, the demand from students at the evening college for more started Well College Global, then called Cadence Health, and its store of online education options. A family bloomed, and Well College grew, soon the practice went and then the teaching, there's only so many hours in the day. Well College continued to expand, so much so Leanne made the conscious decision to keep the reins on the growth to maintain a balance. As babies turned into school children she could 'let out the girth' on the business, allowing the growth to continue in a balance, with a lovely 'cadence'. It didn't take too long before Well College grew to a size that it became her full-time job. 'We started with just me, then a part-timer and myself, then full-timers and on it went, you get the picture'. Leanne recalls that Well College was actually one of the first to offer distance general interest nutrition courses in Australia, way back in 1998. "I launched it based on the feedback from the evening course. A huge number of the students asked me to offer a stage II course. Clearly there was a need for evidence-based nutrition courses designed to offer knowledge that enabled the general public make informed views about healthy eating, and wow. Sure looked like a blaring gap in the market to me". "Hot on our heels was a myriad of other fitness and health colleges, and why not, that's market forces. Naturally this just meant to we had to listen harder to what our students were telling us they wanted next". Hence, Well College was also one of the first to offer a program in nutrition and wellbeing, and now you see dozens. We pride ourselves on 'listening to hear'... Just what is next is a little hush hush still, we are already global, although we are looking to ramp up our presence in Europe and North America. We believe our next release is going to take us to another level in health training. |

Empowering evidence-informed health educationWe train health and wellness practitioners to support clients in making informed, confident health decisions through education, critical thinking, and ethical practice. |
Collaborative, client-centred care modelOur approach rejects one size fits all healthcare in favour of collaborative, inclusive, and supportive coaching that places the client at the centre of their health journey. |
Integrative, whole-person wellbeingWe focus on wellness-led, integrative health approaches that consider lifestyle, environment, behaviour, and personal context, not just symptoms. |
Accessible health education for allWe believe quality health education should be accessible to all, that's why we provide free, low-barrier learning pathways that empower people globally. |
Moving beyond diet cultureIn 2019, WCG launched the Non-Diet Approach Coaching course, recognising a simple but powerful truth: diets fail people - people do not fail diets. Decades of restrictive dieting have contributed to disordered relationships with food, poor body image, and the widespread belief that thinness equals health or worth. We fundamentally reject this narrative. Research consistently shows that around 95% of diets are unsuccessful long-term, often eroding self-trust and self-compassion. At Well College Global, we believe health is not defined by size, weight, or appearance. A positive relationship with food supports not only physical health, but also mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. Food is nourishment, connection, culture, and joy. |
Person-centred, non-judgemental coachingWe do not teach or prescribe a single dietary ideology. Instead, our focus is always the person, not the plan. Coaching, as we teach it, is a collaborative and respectful process that honours autonomy, diversity, and lived experience. Our practitioners are trained to partner with clients, setting aside judgement, control, and the need to “fix”—and instead support self-determination, strengths, and sustainable change. This same philosophy underpins how we teach. We respect lifestyle choice, context, and individuality, delivering knowledge and practical skills without judgement. Students are supported to co-create their learning journeys through flexible pathways and thoughtfully designed electives. |
Holistic health, food systems, and environmentally responsibleWe also recognise that health does not exist in isolation. Modern food systems face significant challenges, from industrial agriculture and chemical inputs to seed patenting, soil degradation, microplastics, and environmental contamination. These issues directly affect food quality, farming security, public health, and planetary wellbeing. At WCG, we believe clean, accessible, and ethically produced food is a foundational health issue. Holistic health includes caring for the soil, water, ecosystems, and communities that sustain us. Food has always been medicine and protecting its integrity matters. |
A global community creating changeWe believe humanity has an innate capacity to heal, adapt, and thrive. Every Well College Global graduate contributes to this vision in their own way—supporting individuals, families, and communities worldwide. Our strength lies in our collective, our values, and our willingness to lead when the industry needs to evolve. We are not like any other college. We invite you to experience the difference. |
Curiosity-led, transformational learningAt Well College Global, education goes beyond information acquisition. We believe true learning creates internal shifts through experience, reflection, and curiosity. A curiosity-led approach empowers students to become active participants in their own growth, unlocking potential they can carry into their professional and personal lives. |
Assessment without stress or pressureWe do not use traditional exams, essays, or time-bound assessments. Our assessments are intentionally designed as opportunities for reflection, questioning, integration, and real-world application, not tests. Learning should expand awareness, not create anxiety, and we actively encourage students not to overthink or fear assessment. |
