Learning and teaching
There are a diverse number of learning experiences within the Professional Certificate of Meal Planning including small group live classes and course work.
On average we find most coaches who study for around 4-5 hours a week qualify in around 6-7 months. We have many students who are eager to start coaching quickly and complete in 6 months or less pending the study time they commit.

Assessment methods
Well College Global offers various assessment tasks for each unit, including multiple-choice and short-answer questions, written reflections, case studies and practice coaching. These assessments cover all learning outcomes and must be passed to achieve the qualification. 
Assessments are internally marked and externally quality-assured before certification.

Learning at WCG
The classes you take will vary based on your course, offering different formats for meaningful interaction with staff, industry professionals, and peers. Unit DNHC501: Psychology & Wellbeing Foundations
This comprehensive and dynamic subject offers an in-depth exploration of key elements that shape human behavior and effective coaching practices. You’ll delve into the foundations of human nature, personality, habit formation, and the science of behavior change. The curriculum is designed to help you engage with clients meaningfully and authentically, enabling you to create client-led coaching sessions that maintain both flow and focus. You’ll also gain the skills needed to identify and respond to red flags as a coach, ensuring safe and ethical practice.

Throughout the subject, you’ll explore the distinctions and intersections between coaching, mentoring, and counseling, with guidance based on the International Coach Federation (ICF) core competencies. You'll learn to integrate wellbeing techniques that support holistic health, including self-efficacy, mindfulness, affirmations, and somatic therapies. Specialised coaching areas such as intuitive eating, sleep coaching, and low-toxicity living will also be covered, empowering you to support clients in cultivating sustainable wellness. Overall, this subject equips you with a well-rounded, holistic coaching approach grounded in theory, ethics, and practical tools.

Unit DNHC502: Human Nutrition
This This unit provides evidence-based nutrition knowledge, covering the fundamentals of human nutrition and the link between diet and health.

Learners will explore healthy diets, global dietary guidelines, macronutrients (carbohydrates, fats, proteins), micronutrients, hydration, and specialised diets like vegetarian, vegan, and ketogenic. Additional topics include early-life, pregnancy, sports, weight management, and older adult nutrition, as well as food safety and dietary assessment using a non-diet approach.
Taught from a food coaching perspective, this unit emphasises a balanced, sustainable approach to wellbeing beyond just the absence of illness.

Unit DNHC504: Mental Health and Trauma Awareness
This unit enhances awareness of mental health and available community resources while fostering meaningful conversations at the community level. It also equips learners with evidence-based strategies for initial crisis response.
The second part of the unit focuses on research and analysis to deepen understanding of trauma and emphasises the importance of being a trauma-informed practitioner.

Unit WCG04: Meal Planning for Healthy Living
This course provides a comprehensive foundation in healthy meal planning, beginning with core nutrition principles, understanding diverse client needs, and using tools and techniques to design personalised, practical, and achievable plans. You’ll learn how to gather and assess client data effectively, work collaboratively, and apply insights using dietary evaluation tools such as food diaries, healthy eating indexes, and Mediterranean Diet frameworks. The course also explores tailoring plans to cultural preferences, seasonal availability, dietary restrictions, allergies, and intolerances, while emphasising professional practice, duty of care, and ethical considerations. Throughout the program, you’ll engage in hands-on activities and use meal planning software to build confidence and real-world skills.

Unit DNHC509: Women's Health & Hormones

This unit offers a comprehensive look at the hormonal and physiological shifts that occur across a woman’s life, with a strong focus on how cycles, hormones, and health challenges evolve over time. You’ll study the social determinants of women’s health, reproductive anatomy, and hormone regulation through feedback loops, while developing an advanced understanding of adrenal function, cortisol rhythms, and stress-related fatigue. Detailed attention is given to menstruation, including the factors influencing the endometrial cycle, and the critical role of iron in women’s health through clinical case studies. You’ll also examine key reproductive and hormonal health conditions such as PCOS, endometriosis, and thyroid imbalances like Hashimoto’s, exploring natural health approaches and clinical strategies for support. Additional topics include conception and libido, breast development and trauma, menopausal transitions, and the role of detoxification systems in hormonal balance. Unit DNHC510: The Gut & Microbiome
This in-depth unit explores the fascinating and ever-evolving world of the gut microbiome, highlighting its essential role in overall health—including hormonal balance, immune function, and mental wellbeing. You'll learn how the gut influences everything from nutrient absorption to estrogen production, particularly during key life stages like menopause. The course dives into the intricate connections between the digestive system and other body systems, emphasizing the gut's critical role in physical, emotional, and hormonal health. Topics covered include foundational gut anatomy, digestive enzymes, and microbiome development, as well as the taxonomy of gut bacteria and their functions—such as producing short-chain fatty acids and influencing immunity. You’ll explore common gut-related conditions like IBS, SIBO, GERD, and leaky gut, as well as the inflammatory processes behind IBD. The unit also focuses on the gut-brain axis and its impact on mood, mental health, and neurological conditions, along with the gut's role in hormone regulation through the estrobolome. Unit DNHC515: Botanical Healing; An Introduction to Herbal Medicine          
​This unit aims to introduce learners to the healing power of plants, and focuses on safe, easily available herbs and plants to bring together a practical look at the compounds in plants and how these give rise to plant health benefits. Learners will develop their natural-health literacy and have a basic understanding of plant medicine and the potential of its role in health care and wellbeing management. This unit does not enable learners to practice in herbal medicine. It will enable learners to use plants for personal health.

Unit DNHC516: Super Foods and Nutrition

This unit aims to take learners deeper into functional nutrition and provide evidence-based information about food and the food compounds that are thought to exhibit a health benefit.
Learners will also become familiar with how to discern credible versus sensationalised information when it comes to health foods, food trends, and nutrition information.
