What changes when a leader learns to coach?

The shift can be surprisingly simple.

Instead of solving
→ Explore

Resist the urge to immediately provide the solution. Create the space for teams to think, create, evolve and solve.

Instead of answering
→ Ask

Learn to ask the question that unlocks a different way of thinking and potential.

Instead of carrying
→ Develop

Help your people take greater ownership of their decisions, development and performance.

Knowing how to lead is valuable.
Knowing how to coach changes the conversation.

Rosemary Antoine: From leadership to executive coachinG
Rosemary Antoine: From leadership to executive coaching
Rose’s leadership career began in her early twenties, when she became a manager in a telecommunications company in London.
Her career later took her from working aboard cruise ships to Cyprus, Bulgaria, Gibraltar and Spain. She worked with people from many different countries and cultures and, over the course of her leadership career, led teams of 25 to 100 people. Her later senior operational and people leadership roles spanned online gaming, international healthcare assistance, public sector regulation and hospitality, including roles at International SOS and the Security Industry Authority.
Developing people was always part of how Rose led. Alongside managing teams, performance and change, she helped people think through problems, build confidence and make their own decisions. Coaching was part of how she worked long before she had a formal coaching qualification.
By the time she joined Well College Global’s Certified Coaching Professional (CCP) programme, Rose was already coaching professionally. She chose CCP because she wanted to connect the coaching she was already doing with recognised professional standards and ethics and work towards an ICF credential.
CCP helped Rose look more closely at when she was coaching, when she was moving towards advice or mentoring, and whether she was giving the client enough room to do their own thinking. She also valued learning alongside other coaches. She completed the Certified Coaching Professional qualification and then went on to achieve her ICF Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential.
Today, Rose works internationally as an Executive & Leadership Coach through Stairway to Purpose, supporting senior leaders one-to-one and in small groups, particularly in new roles and through major change. Her work often centres on competing priorities, important decisions and stakeholder conversations. She still draws on her own leadership experience in that work.
Clients have included senior leaders from Generali, UBS, Microsoft, Amazon, the BBC and other organisations across finance, technology, media and government. Clients have said the coaching helped them strengthen relationships and communicate more clearly. Others have described feeling more confident in important conversations or said the work helped them secure a new role.
Rose now also works as an instructor on Well College Global’s ICF Level 1 Certified Coaching Professional programme, supporting student coaches through live practice, mentoring and feedback.
DON SINGE: From Elite Sport to Organisational Leadership Coaching
Thirty-five years—and still counting—in elite sport and professional leadership have established Don Singe as a recognised authority in organisational leadership and elite individual preparation. Don specialises in teaching, influencing and motivating people to take purposeful action, bringing extensive experience in leadership development and building high-performing teams.

Don began his career as Head of Performance at Manly Rugby Union. As part of the coaching team led by Tim Lane that won the club’s last Grand Final in 1997, he had already established himself as a leader of high-performing teams. Soon afterwards, Don became Head of Strength and Conditioning at the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles. Under the steady and focused leadership of Des Hasler, he progressed to Head of High Performance.

As Don’s reputation grew, he was recruited into national teams, including the New Zealand Rugby League team, Samoa Rugby League and Cook Islands Rugby League. During this period, he also undertook a Master’s in Coaching (Education). In his management roles, Don was responsible for more than 30 elite athletes while continuing to develop his expertise in motivating leadership teams, coaching teams and creating the conditions for sustained high performance.

Following consistent top-four finishes, four grand final berths and two premierships, Don began the Certified Coaching Professional Programme in 2022. This enabled him to further refine his established leadership capabilities and transfer them into corporate leadership coaching and private consultancy.

While Don brought decades of high-performance leadership experience to the programme, his ICF-accredited coach training with Well College Global was critical to successfully translating that experience from elite sport into executive and organisational leadership coaching. The experiential training equipped him with a professional coaching framework, advanced listening and questioning capabilities, ethical boundaries, and the ability to move beyond directing or providing solutions. Don learned how to help executives and managers develop their own insight, take greater ownership and translate awareness into purposeful action. Combined with his established understanding of performance, teams and leadership under pressure, these coaching capabilities enabled Don to work credibly across corporate environments and support sustainable individual, team and organisational performance.

Don’s client base grew quickly and included Prime Construction, McGrath Port Macquarie, Cunninghams Real Estate and dozens of other small, medium and large organisations across water quality, mining and construction. Through his consultancy and speaking engagements, Don worked with leaders and managers to strengthen performance, develop people and achieve desired organisational outcomes.

Throughout this time, Don maintained his involvement with Australian rugby league teams and their leaders. In 2025, he was headhunted for a bespoke role not previously seen within rugby league, becoming the first Head of People and Culture within the North Queensland Cowboys franchise. Recruited by the organisation’s senior executives, Don’s work focuses on professional development through individual coaching, reaching into every area of the organisation and its teams.

By developing insight and clarity around each individual’s goals and needs, Don helps people and managers lead more effectively, build capability and work through complex tasks and challenges. His coaching approach involves continuing to unpack, challenge and strategise until progress is achieved and new possibilities emerge. Don’s methods and coaching programme are industry-proven to support individual achievement, high-performing teams and desired organisational outcomes.
DAN LANGE: FROM EXECUTIVE CHEF TO WELLBEING MANAGER (AGED CARE)
Dan began his professional career in an industry he had always been passionate about. As a qualified chef working for some of the world’s largest hotel groups and renowned restaurants, he built his career alongside industry leaders including Luke Mangan, Jamie Oliver and Rick Stein.

After a decade in this fast-paced and demanding environment, Dan moved into training to achieve greater work–life balance for himself and his young family. As he progressed through the organisation and became increasingly involved in workplace wellbeing, he recognised a strong alignment between his personal beliefs and the principles of effective leadership: that better communication can help people adapt to change, navigate pressure and perform at their best.

Dan completed Well College Global’s Certified Coaching Professional Programme in 2021. The ICF-accredited coach training gave him a practical framework for turning that belief into a consistent leadership approach. Through experiential coaching practice, mentoring and feedback, he developed the capacity to listen beyond the immediate issue, ask more purposeful questions, approach difficult conversations constructively and help others take ownership of their performance and development.

The CCP training strengthened Dan’s belief that better workplace conversations can contribute to improved performance, stronger staff retention, more effective conflict resolution and earlier recognition of emerging people and organisational challenges. These leadership coaching capabilities became particularly valuable as he progressed into more senior roles.

In 2024, Dan accepted a Head of Wellbeing position within a healthcare and aged-care organisation operating across six Australian states and employing 12,000 people. Drawing on his ICF-accredited coaching training, he has devised, implemented and taught a range of workplace wellbeing measures and programmes. His work addresses both individual wellbeing and the organisational practices needed to support a healthier, more sustainable and high-performing workforce.

Dan has also integrated coaching principles into leadership development programmes designed to strengthen communication, increase managerial capability and enhance organisational performance through a dedicated wellbeing taskforce. His transition demonstrates how professional coach training can help experienced leaders transfer their existing knowledge into executive leadership, organisational wellbeing and people-development roles.

Dan’s coaching-led wellbeing initiatives achieved strong uptake across the organisation, demonstrating a clear appetite for practical support that connects employee wellbeing with everyday leadership. The broader evidence reinforces the organisational value of this work. Through his ICF-accredited CCP training, Dan has been able to translate these principles into leadership conversations, wellbeing programmes and organisational initiatives that support communication, early intervention and sustainable workforce performance.
Dan’s journey is living proof that leadership capability developed in one demanding industry can be strengthened through coaching and successfully applied within executive healthcare and aged-care environments.
